Since Mikel Arteta’s arrival at Arsenal in December 2019, the club have undergone some major changes behind the scenes.
Arteta took over from Unai Emery and endured a topsy-turvy first few years in charge but the last two seasons have seen Arsenal established as genuine title challengers.
The key reason for their change in fortunes could be in training and it’s thought to be totally different to Arsene Wenger’s methods.

Mikel Arteta’s training is very intense
All new managers will have slightly different training methods but it seems Arteta’s style is totally contrasting to Wenger’s.
“Up until his last few years, when it came to training, Arsene was a very much a ‘volume’ guy,” revealed a former employee, via The Athletic.
“They’d do long sessions without a lot of sprinting.
“Under Mikel, training is much more intense. That’s what we lacked for a long time.”
Evidently, the new regime is paying dividends as The Gunners are now far and away the second-best team in the country and they’ll be hoping to take Manchester City’s crown this term.
Arsenal still need a striker
If Arsenal are to pip Man City to the Premier League title, they’ll need to sign a new striker before the transfer window slams shut.
Gabriel Jesus isn’t quite up to the required level and whilst Kai Havertz has been effective in that role, he’s unlikely to score 20-plus goals in the league.
So, it’s thought Arsenal are looking at Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has an £86m release clause which is negotiable.
