After parting ways with Unai Emery in 2019, Arsenal did hold an interest in appointing former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.
That’s according to a report by The Telegraph today which also details Pochettino’s refusal towards the idea.

Arsenal had wanted to fly staff out to Argentina to hold talks with Pochettino over replacing Emery, however, they were told that they would be wasting their time.
According to this report, Pochettino has made it very clear that he would never manage Arsenal or Espanyol’s rivals FC Barcelona in the future.
Of course, this is all surfacing in the wake of Pochettino returning to Tottenham with his Chelsea side tonight.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have been flying so far this season but the fixture will be another tough test.
Although their results don’t suggest so, Chelsea have now been improving as they settle under their new boss.
Pochettino’s Chelsea gave Arsenal an incredibly tough time at Stamford Bridge, and they’ll be aiming to do the same at Tottenham tonight.
Arsenal wanted Pochettino soon after he was sacked by Tottenham
Of course, after their rejection by Pochettino, Arsenal will be more than happy that they landed Mikel Arteta.
The upwards trajectory under the Spaniard has been quite remarkable, especially given just how disjointed the club looked when he joined.

And although Arsenal are enduring a tough period right now, they are a millions times better off than just a few years ago.
However, Arsenal fans certainly won’t enjoy just how quickly the gap has now been reduced to Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham have a chance to return to the top of the league tonight, and Destiny Udogie’s hint at a return would be very timely.
And although it’ll hurt to see Pochettino arrive at Tottenham with his Chelsea side, it could have been a whole lot worse with Arsenal.
Pochettino is likely to receive a frosty reception back in North London tonight, but those fans many recognise this small bit of loyalty he did display when rejecting Arsenal.
