What Marcus Rashford actually thinks about leaving Manchester United for Aston Villa

TBR Football understands that Marcus Rashford is open to a move to join Aston Villa on loan and Unai Emery’s side are now progressing in talks with Manchester United.

Villa asked about signing Rashford earlier this week, as reported by TBR Football and now the Premier League club are pushing to get a deal done.

The Midlands club have plenty of football still to play as they are in the Round of 16 of the Champions League and still have hopes of a top-four finish.

The prospect of Champions League football and regular first-team is something which excites the Manchester United forward.

Aston Villa pushing to sign Marcus Rashford

Aston Villa are now in talks over a deal for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford after their initial enquiry was met with positivity by both the player and club, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

United accepted several weeks ago that the 27-year-old could leave and although initially wanting a permanent deal, they have relented and are now willing to do a loan move.

The Red Devils realise nobody will meet the majority of his £325k-per-week wages, but if they are willing to cover some – a deal is possible and we are told they have relayed this to Villa, who are now looking at the finer details of a move.

Villa’s sporting director Monchi has discussed the option with Unai Emery and TBR Football sources suggest both of them feel the chance to sign Rashford on loan is too good to turn down.

What’s happened to Barcelona’s Marcus Rashford push?

Rashford’s camp had insisted Barcelona was his first choice, however, the Catalan club have been unable to put together a deal and offer him a guarantee of first-team football.

The form of Hansi Flick’s front three of Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha means there is no room for Rashford to play regularly.

Rashford also had interest from West Ham and Tottenham, but neither club have taken things beyond contact.

Villa are in need for attacking options having allowed both Jhon Duran and Emi Buendia to leave this week – sanctioning moves to Al-Nassr and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.

Villa have also spoken to Chelsea’s Joao Felix and PSG’s Marco Asensio.
