It’s a fairly safe assumption to suggest that Luis Diaz is going to prove to be quite the signing for Liverpool.
The Colombian has made a brilliant start to life at Anfield and on the biggest stage this weekend and with just a handful of appearances in the Red of Liverpool, Diaz delivered a fine performance. Yes, he might not have scored and he might not have been on for the penalties, but his threat was clear.
Diaz has already, it seems, bought fully into the Liverpool way of doing things. He’s all-action, pressing from the front like Jurgen Klopp demands and then when needed, he has the quality on the ball to cause trouble. But while his quality stands out, it is that work-rate which is really catching the eye early on.

And according to a report from Goal, that amount of effort takes its toll on players, including Diaz. Goal reports how Diaz was asked if he had enjoyed himself on Sunday by a member of Liverpool’s backroom team. His reply was as follows:
“Si, pero estoy muerto,” or, ‘Yes, but I’m dead,” Diaz is said to have replied.
Certainly, if any player on the pitch could make such a joke it was Diaz. As mentioned, the sheer amount of work and running he puts in is exceptional. Little wonder, then, that he was feeling the pinch after full-time.
TBR’s View: Luis Diaz A Liverpool Star In The Making
We’ve already written about Diaz on more than one occasion on this website but the fact is that he looks a simply stunning signing.
This is a player who seems to have literally everything in the locker when it comes to an attacking player.
Speed, aggression, composure when needed, and scope to become even better. Down the line, Diaz will be seen as a bargain and much like they did with Diogo Jota, Liverpool have got this one bang on.
