What Kai Havertz said about Arsenal target Raheem Sterling while they were at Chelsea is now very interesting

Arsenal are looking to make a deadline day move for Raheem Sterling.

The Chelsea winger could be headed to Arsenal on deadline day, and this is a transfer that makes a lot of sense.

Not only does Sterling know Mikel Arteta well from his time at Manchester City, he also knows the likes of Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice from England duty, while he also knows Kai Havertz and Jorginho from Chelsea.

Sterling will be reuniting with Havertz if he comes to the Emirates, and that is something that will excite the German.

Indeed, Havertz has previously spoken very highly of Sterling.

What Kai Havertz has said about Raheem Sterling

Havertz was very excited when Sterling first signed for Chelsea.

“We all know that he is a great player, I think in every game you can see that,’ Havertz said.

“I know the game against England at the Euros, he played well. You can see his quality here already and it’s been just a few days. You can see in training how good he is, how fast he is. He is definitely going to help us.”

Havertz would again praise Sterling later in the season.

“It is very exciting [having a player like that around]. We have played four games and he has shown his quality today again,” Havertz said.

“It is nice to play with him. He has lot of experience and knows how to move, and it helps you a lot if you have such experienced players next to you. His style of play suits us very well.”

Kai Havertz and Sterling could thrive together

Havertz was very excited to play with Sterling at Chelsea, but, of course, that didn’t go to plan.

That 2022/23 season at Chelsea was a mess, and no player in that team thrived.

Thomas Tuchel was sacked too soon, Graham Potter was a disaster and Frank Lampard was even worse.

However, if Sterling comes to Arsenal to work with Mikel Arteta, Havertz and Sterling may finally get the chance to strike up this partnership that should’ve been much more fruitful first time around at Chelsea.
