Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Joelinton on a six-year deal from Hoffenheim.
The Brazilian striker has become the club’s new record signing at around £40 million (BBC Sport), and will be the new wearer of the number nine jersey at St. James’ Park.
The star’s transfer has smashed the previous record held by Miguel Almiron, who signed from Atlanta United earlier this year.

Big things are expected of Joelinton, who is directly replacing Salomon Rondon as the main striker at the club.
The fans’ favourite Venezuela international has joined up with Rafa Benitez at Dalian Yifang over in China.
Not a great deal is known about Joelinton yet having been plying his trade at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, but what his former manager Julian Nagelsmann said at the time of his last contract extension is sure to excite Magpies fans.
The 32-year-old, who now manages RB Leipzig, said (quoted by France24): “The bloke is an animal. He’s a machine. It’s hard to stop him.”
TBR’s view
With not too much to go off, Nagelsmann’s assessment is sure to get some Newcastle fans excited about Joelinton’s arrival.

The burly forward appears to have a reputation as being someone who relishes physical battles, something that is bound to help him playing in the Premier League.
He’s also quite versatile, with the 6ft 1in star able to operate as a second striker making runs beyond another number nine.
Rondon was a big hit for Newcastle and Joelinton is not so dissimilar to his predecessor. Judging by Nagelsmann’s comments, the club might be onto a winner.
