Celtic midfielder Jonny Hayes was realistic about his future when asked recently.
In a post-match interview, reported by The Daily Record, Hayes admitted he would have to be realistic because he has children to look after. Shortly after his honest interview, a couple of clubs have taken an interest in him.
According to The Scottish Sun, Stoke City and Swansea City are lining up swoops for Hayes. Alerted to the Republic of Ireland international’s contract situation, Stoke and Swansea might look to sign him.
Hayes is out of contract at the end of the season. The two Championship clubs are trying to sign the 32-year-old on a free transfer for next season. And Hayes has previously admitted that he doesn’t think too much about his future.
Hayes on his future

Speaking just last week, Hayes said (via The Daily Record): “I’ve got two young kids to provide for and that’s my motivation, whether it’s here, there or anywhere. I take my football day by day, I don’t think about the future. What will be will be.
“I knew when I signed here I was going to be in and out sometimes. I know how the squad works here but I won’t complain. I’ve cherished every minute I’ve had on the pitch since I got the injury. I’m always there when the manager calls.”
TBR’s view
Hayes is doing the sensible thing here and remaining coy about his future. I’m sure he would jump at a new Celtic offer if it came.
If Celtic decide to part ways with the versatile veteran, he has other offers. This is a nice position for Hayes to be in – even if he is out of contract next summer.
