What Joe Hart once said about Sergio Aguero may interest Spurs fans

Tottenham Hotspur have potentially been put on alert ahead of the summer, with The Telegraph reporting that Sergio Aguero is open to joining Spurs when his Manchester City contract expires.

And The Telegraph reports that Spurs are one of the teams that he would consider joining.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham show any interest in signing Aguero. But if they are on the fence, they may be tempted to ask Joe Hart about the Argentinian.

The Spurs goalkeeper spent many years playing alongside Aguero. And he was probably beaten by the 32-year-old on a number of occasions on the training ground.

Of course, Aguero’s record speaks for itself. But judging by comments Hart made about him in 2016, it appears that he would certainly implore his current club to capitalise on the current links.

“He’s definitely up there [with the best in the world], he’s got all the capabilities of the top strikers,” he told FourFourTwo. “There’s definitely an elite group of Ronaldo and Messi, but Kun is an amazing player.

“He’s been a big part of my career, and the success in it. I’m lucky to have him in my team.”

Admittedly, those comments were made some years ago. Aguero is now 32. And he has hardly been at his best this season.

He will not come cheap either – even on a free. According to The Sun, he is on £260,000-a-week with the Cityzens.

But as an option to potentially provide cover for Harry Kane, surely there may not be many better options around this summer.
