It wasn’t to be the dream start Jesse Marsch might have wanted as Leeds manager, as Leicester City spoiled the party at the King Power Stadium.
Marsch was in the dugout for his first game as Leeds coach since taking over from Marcelo Bielsa last week. The new Whites boss picked a similar looking starting line-up to that which Bielsa selected, albeit there were some notable differences in approach.

One of the big things people were on the lookout for was how Marsch would get his team pressing. A lot of talk about the change from man to man pressing and marking to zonal has been doing the rounds all week. And you could see during the game that Marsch’s ways were starting to show a bit.
Indeed, Marsch seemed to revel in it whenever his team did win the ball back, with BBC pundit and former Leeds man, Jonathan Woodgate, noting what Marsch kept doing on the touchline.
“I tell you what, Leeds look lethal when they counter-attack, they really do. They have got real pace, which is hard to defend against,” Woodgate told the BBC in the opening 45.
“You see Jesse Marsch’s reaction when Leeds just won the ball back, it was like they had scored a goal. He clenches his fist as if to say “brilliant boys”.
TBR’s View: Leeds Improve Under Marsch But Work To Do
To be fair to Leeds here, they did well for much of the game and only lost out to a great piece of play from Harvey Barnes.
In the main, Jesse Marsch will have been happy with what he saw. It was just a case of getting that goal when it was needed and ultimately, they ran into an in-form Kasper Schmeichel.
