Anderlecht are reportedly looking to cash in on 17-year-old wonderkid Jeremy Doku amid links with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this summer – and the player’s father claimed that Jurgen Klopp told him he could be Sadio Mane’s successor in 2018.

Ghana Soccer Net have claimed that Anderlecht are willing to cash in on the speed machine, despite playing 24 times for the Belgian side’s senior team. He has had a hand in seven games, scoring four and creating three – but can leave for £17.6million.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, Liverpool are still interested in signing Anderlecht attacker Jeremy Doku despite him already rejecting them once. AC Milan are said to be keen, as are The Reds.

Klopp is a long-term admirer of the Belgium Under-21 international. Indeed, Doku’s father David told Het Nieuwsblad earlier this year that in 2018, Klopp had claimed Doku could be the long-term successor of Mane.

“My (David, Doku’s father) preference was Liverpool. How we were received there, damn,” Doku said. “Trainer Klopp explained how he saw a potential successor to Sadio Mane in Jeremy. Steven Gerrard showed us videos with tactical analysis.”

TBR’s view – Klopp’s claim has got to see Liverpool take the plunge

In this current climate, a fee of under £20million is a bargain for a 17-year-old that has already scored multiple goals at the senior level. If Klopp believes he can be Mane’s successor, then the bargain amount must be tabled.

Mane has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, while Xherdan Shaqiri could also leave Anfield this summer. A couple of new wingers are required, and Doku would be a good addition.
