‘What I’m seeing’… Ange Postecoglou wants to sign a player in £25m man’s position in January

Tottenham have a bit of work to do in the January transfer window.

The north London club’s lack of squad depth has been highlighted by their recent injury and suspension problems, and now, they need to bring in reinforcements.

It’s fairly obvious that Tottenham need a centre-back in the winter window, but according to The Mail’s Josh Hughes, speaking on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel, there is another position that Ange Postecoglou has highlighted.

Indeed, according to Hughes, Ange Postecoglou wants to sign a right winger in the January window, suggesting that the Australian is potentially eyeing a move into the number 10 position for Dejan Kulusevski who current occupies that right side role.

Ange wants a right winger

Hughes shared what he knows about Spurs’ transfer plans.

“I think he wants a left-sided centre-back, and I think he wants a right winger, an out and out right winger, and a striker as well. What I’m seeing is a situation where you buy a winger and Kulusevski moves into the 10 and Gio moves into the number eight,” Hughes said.

“Centre-back, I don’t even think that needs to be said, maybe even two centre-backs instead of a striker.”

Not a bad idea

It has to be said that signing a new right winger isn’t a bad idea for Tottenham.

Yes, Kulusevski plays there, and the £25m man has been brilliant this season, but beyond him, there really isn’t much depth.

Down the left, the likes of Brennan Johnson, Richarlison, Manor Solomon, Bryan Gil and Heung-Min Son are all more than comfortable, but down the right flank, it’s basically just Kulusevski who plays that role of an inverted player down the right who cuts in on his left.

Spurs quietly lack a bit of depth down that side, and it’s good to hear that this position will be addressed in January.
