Unai Emery has undoubtedly been one of the best managers of the season in the Premier League this term.

The Spaniard has transformed Aston Villa over the past 18 months, and now, the Midlands club are eyeing up a potential place in next season’s Champions League.

So, how has Emery done it? Well a lot of his tricks probably won’t ever be revealed as he’ll want to keep them to himself.

However, inevitably, there have been a few leaks from the training ground that give us some insight into Emery’s training.

Speaking on the Planet Premier League Podcast, Cesc Fabregas has now shared what he’s heard about Emery’s Aston Villa training, and it sounds very intense to say the least.

Cesc Fabregas shares insight into Unai Emery’s training

Fabregas shared what he knows about the Aston Villa boss.

“It sounds simple, but from what I hear and what I understand from my side is that he’s a really good coach. He goes into detail in coaching and training session. He stops, he doesn’t mind stopping 20 times if it means he gets what he wants and he sees what he wants to see. There are managers who aren’t great coaches, but a little lower you need great coaches,” Fabregas said.

Perfection

This is how you get the best out of your players.

Unai Emery demands perfection, and if you don’t get it right, he will make you do it again and again until you do.

Of course, there is a balance to be struck between being strict with things like this and keeping the environment fun and happy, but the overarching point is that Emery wants every player to know the standards that are being set and he makes sure they have to be matched.

This may sound like a bit of a strange way to train the squad, but based on Villa’s performances the past 12 months, it’s fair to say it’s working.
