What Granit Xhaka was spotted doing during the warm-up before Arsenal beat Tottenham
A video posted on Twitter shows what Granit Xhaka was spotted doing during the warm-up right before Arsenal beat Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta’s men produced a memorable display in north London over the weekend as they picked up a huge win against their fiercest rivals.
An emphatic first-half performance saw Arsenal race into a 2-0 lead just 10 minutes before half-time, thanks to a Hugo Lloris own goal and a long-range stunner from Martin Odegaard.
The Gunners completely outplayed their north London rivals during the opening 45 minutes and seemed well up for the big occasion.
This could be partly down to their former captain, Xhaka, who was spotted firing his Arsenal teammates up as they prepared for the game.
What Xhaka was spotted doing before Arsenal beat Tottenham
The video that was posted on Twitter shows Arsenal’s starting XI gathered round in a circle and going through some stretches before the game.
Xhaka can be spotted shouting at his teammates and delivering a speech to prepare them for a huge clash.
The 30-year-old claps his hands together multiple times while firing the Arsenal side up ahead of the north London derby.
Xhaka has been in inspired form for Gunners this season and has completely transformed his game under Arteta.
The Switzerland international was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy a few years back after an outburst towards the fans. But he’s become a fan-favourite once again after being rejuvenated by a slight tweak in his position in midfield.
Arsenal fans will love to see Xhaka readying his teammates for such a big clash and it certainly seemed to help as they made a brilliant start to the game.
Of course, Odegaard now wears the Arsenal armband but it’s important for Arteta’s young squad to have influences such as Xhaka in the side.
