What does the future hold for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere?

Long considered the future of English football, Jack Wilshere found himself being sent out on loan from Arsenal last summer, a club he had been with since aged nine. Having struggled for game-time at the Gunners, due to a succession of injuries, Wilshere has now found himself playing regular football at Bournemouth, who have stuttered throughout this season.

Wilshere has played 19 times this season, more than the past two combined, and has become a key player for Eddie Howe’s side. The English midfielder has created 29 chances, nine more than any of his teammates. Charlie Daniels lies in second having created 20 opportunities.

The Englishman looks settled and confident under Howe’s management and this is showing in his performances. Wilshere has completed 73% of his attempted take-ons this season and has a passing succession of 85%.

Having been sent out his North London comfort zone, Wilshere has adopted the role of a Bournemouth player having featured on Sky Sports thanking fans for sticking with the team during their 6-3 defeat against Everton.

During the meeting with Sky Sports, Wilshere, when asked about his future, stated: “I’m concentrating on the next three or four months and then I’m not sure what’s going to happen.”

Wenger has always been open to the idea of Wilshere’s return ahead of next season and recently revealed that no formal offer had been made for the Englishman. Yet, with Arsenal strengthening their midfield further with Granit Xhaka arriving in the summer, Wenger has many options available to him already.

The Englishman is starting the peak of his career at 25-year-old and having had a taste of regular first-team action at Bournemouth, the signs suggest he is not willing to bide his time on the bench any longer.

In the summer, providing they maintain their Premier League status, Bournemouth could be a viable option for the England international as all the factors suit Wilshere. Eddie Howe admitted he would love to make him a part of his squad in the summer, as reported by the Guardian.

The expansive play style, which has seen them beat champions Leicester and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has allowed Jack Wilshere to thrive.

Howe’s management style and age has opened Wilshere’s eyes to the potential that the south coast side have to become a regular figure in the Premier League.

Perhaps most importantly, Wilshere has remained injury free for the majority of this season. Having gained both confidence and regular action, the midfielder has an important decision ahead of him; remain at Arsenal or seek pastures new. or current if he wants to play for Bournemouth.
