What Darwin Nunez was spotted saying to Van Dijk after missing big chance for Liverpool vs Rangers

Darwin Nunez shared a few words with Virgil van Dijk after missing a first half chance for Liverpool against Rangers.

Nunez started the game in something akin to a 4-4-2 system for the Reds, representing a change from their usual formation anyway.

He was not able to get the goal which would have kickstarted his season, with some good goalkeeping not helping his cause.

Liverpool of course won 2-0 anyway, thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah either side of half-time.

Liverpool striker Nunez complains to van Dijk the ball won’t go in

After 41 minutes of the game on Tuesday night, which was shown on BT Sport and can be watched again in full here, Nunez reacted to a big chance.

He said to van Dijk: “No quiere entrar hermano” which translated into English means: “It doesn’t want to go in brother (the ball)”.

Nunez has also admitted after the game that he does not understand Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team talks and has to ask teammates afterwards what he said.

Erling Haaland’s red-hot form for Manchester City does not help ease the pressure on Nunez after his stuttering start in England.

It is hard for Nunez to replace Sadio Mane, getting used to a new league and playing in a side which is not at full pelt yet this season.

He could probably just do with a goal to get his confidence up and if Liverpool put a run of wins together, that would help too.
