Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly told associates that he finally has a manager in Ange Postecoglou with the right qualities to succeed at Spurs.

That’s according to The Telegraph, with the outlet claiming this is the first time the Spurs chairman has felt this way about a head coach since Mauricio Pochettino

Ange Postecoglou has enjoyed an encouraging start to life in north London, despite a rough patch of form in November.

The Aussie boss seems to have navigated Tottenham through a difficult period where they have lost several key players through injury and suspension.

With the likes of Micky van de Ven set to return this weekend, while Cristian Romero could also be involved at Old Trafford, things are starting to look up for Postecoglou.

He will also welcome James Maddison back this month, before the Pape Matar Sarr, Heung-Min Son and Yves Bissouma will return from international duty in February.

Postecoglou currently has Spurs sitting in fifth place, just one point behind their north London rivals Arsenal. And it would appear that Daniel Levy has been impressed with Postecoglou’s start to life at Spurs.

What Levy has told associates about Postecoglou and Pochettino

The Telegraph reports that Levy has told associates that he feels Postecoglou has the ‘right professional and personal qualities’ to deliver success at Spurs.

It’s noted that this is the first time he’s thought this of a manager since Pochettino’s tenure between 2014 and 2019.

Pochettino was dismissed by Tottenham back in 2019 and it’s fair to say that Levy has struggled to find the right man since.

Jose Mourinho showed promise during the early stages of his tenure. But that quickly fell apart and he was sacked just days before the 2021 League Cup final.

Nuno Espirito Santo lasted just four months before being replaced by Antonio Conte in November 2021.

Conte also enjoyed a promising start to life at Spurs but fans quickly grew tired of the Italian’s pragmatic style of play.

Postecoglou fits the bill as a manager who is willing to take risks and deliver exciting football at Tottenham.

On top of that, he’s won over supporters with his charismatic personality after not exactly being the favoured choice for Tottenham fans over the summer.
