TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Chelsea are now set to do after Borussia Dortmund rejected their latest offer for Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea are looking to wrap up the signings of Jamie Gittens and Mike Maignan before the pre-Club World Cup transfer deadline.

The Blues are competing in the tournament and, as such, are eager to bolster their ranks before jetting off to the competition in the United States.

TBR Football can also reveal what Chelsea will look to do if they don’t succeed in signing Gittens and Maignan before the 7pm deadline.

Chelsea will keep trying for Jamie Gittens and Mike Maignan

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Dortmund have rejected Chelsea’s £42million offer for Gittens.

Chelsea are not giving up just yet – they are still in talks with Dortmund and trying to get a deal over the line for the winger.

“Both deals unlikely, him and Maignan at this point,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football. “But never say never in the final hours.”

And if Chelsea don’t manage to get either signing over the line, talks will just continue ahead of the transfer window reopening.

“The Gittens talks will just continue,” added Bailey. “And I am told that is likely for Maignan too.”

What Jamie Gittens and Mike Maignan think of prospective Chelsea move

Gittens is keen on returning to the Premier League and, as a player who has been deemed “magic” like Joe Cole, it will be exciting to see how he fares.

The 20-year-old played for the likes of Chelsea, Reading and Manchester City in his youth.

“Gittens wants to come back to the Premier League – he’s ready now,” Bailey previously said. “So it’s a real possibility.”

Bailey also said Gittens would rather join Chelsea over Arsenal.

“Gittens firmly believes he can progress at Stamford Bridge and although Arsenal made a push for him, Chelsea were always seen as his preferred option,” he said.

Meanwhile, Maignan has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, showing how keen he is on linking up with the Blues.

Maignan is seen as the ideal man to solve Chelsea’s goalkeeper issue, as he has a considerable amount of experience at the top level.
