Lazio are reportedly weighing up whether or not to sign Tottenham playmaker Bryan Gil on loan this January.

The Serie A side have been strongly linked with a move for the 22-year-old winger in recent days, with the likes of Feyenoord and Brentford also rumoured with a move for Gil.

Once lauded as ‘intelligent’ by Antonio Conte, Gil is yet to really impress at Tottenham this season despite playing a part for Ange Postecoglou’s new-look squad.

And according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio are still unsure if they want to move for the Tottenham youngster in the final days of the January transfer window.

Pedulla said when asked about what late business Lazio could do this month: “The only player of interest at the moment is Bryan Gil from Tottenham.

“He is convincing given his age and his technique, but his performances this season and his goals and assist numbers have been poor. However, he remains the only name Lazio are evaluating at the moment.”

With the Roman club still in the UEFA Champions League, Gil has an opportunity to make quite an impact if the winger decides to join Lazio on loan in the coming days.

The Serie A side have proven to be a great club in recent years for transforming underwhelming players into bona-fide superstars, and Gil could be next to receive such a treatment at Lazio.

Indeed, there’s little wonder why the Italian side are worried about the winger’s numbers this season, yet Gil has impressed in patches for Tottenham this campaign.

And a move to Italy could be what’s needed to get Gil’s career back on track, with Lazio a club who could warm to the former Sevilla man in a big way in the coming weeks.
