What can Aston Villa expect from their three remaining Championship games?

Aston Villa’s rampage into the Championship promotion spots has been remarkable to see over the last couple of months.

Dean Smith’s side have clicked into gear and could go into the play-offs as the form side if they can continue their winning run in the closing three games of the season.

But how will they play out? We’ve taken a closer look…

It’s never easy playing a side fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table and Millwall have given Leeds and Sheffield United very tough games on the road lately.

But Villa’s goal threat could well be too much for Neil Harris’ side to deal with, but it won’t be an easy one.

A trip to a Leeds side chasing automatic promotion is about as tough an assignment as Villa could hope to get at this stage of the campaign, and this game could be a cracker.

Leeds can blow teams away but Villa should be able to find the back of the net at Elland Road. The draw looks the most likely result.

Norwich (H) – Win

This is where the timing of the fixture may smile down on Villa, because if Norwich are already promoted by the final day of the season and Villa still need three points to firm up their play-off place, that superior motivation may win the day.

If the Canaries are at full tilt, it may be a different story. But if Villa can come through games against two of the league’s best sides and avoid defeat, the play-offs should hold no fear for them.
