Footage on Newcastle United’s YouTube channel has revealed what Callum Wilson was telling his teammates right after scoring against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Magpies picked up a huge win on Sunday as they became the first side to beat Spurs away from home this season.

Eddie Howe’s men stormed into a 2-0 lead after goals from Wilson and Miguel Almiron. Wilson latched onto a mistake by Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and chipped the ball over Eric Dier into the goal.

After a lengthy VAR check for a possible foul and then handball, the goal was given. And the Newcastle striker can be spotted telling his teammates to stay focused.

What Wilson was telling Newcastle teammates

On a video on Newcastle’s YouTube channel, Wilson turns to his teammates just before the game restarts and gestures for them to stay switched on.

The striker points to his head multiple times while talking to the rest of the Newcastle team.

He also gestures for them to remain calm and not get carried away after going 1-0 up.

Last season, Newcastle found themselves a goal to the good in north London but went on to lose the game 5-1.

Although Wilson was unavailable for that game, he will certainly remember what happened on that day back in April.

But it was a completely different story on Sunday as Newcastle went on to double their lead before half-time.

The Magpies forced another error from Lloris as his pass was intercepted by Sean Longstaff. Almiron then picked up the ball and shook Ryan Sessegnon off before skipping past Clement Lenglet.

The Paraguayan went on to produce a brilliant finish from a difficult angle to beat Lloris.

Spurs did get a goal back through Harry Kane at the beginning of the second-half but Howe’s men defended brilliantly thereafter.

Newcastle are absolutely flying at the moment and moved into the top four after Sunday’s win.

Howe’s men have not lost a game since the 2-1 defeat at Anfield back in August. This time last season, they were winless under Steve Bruce.
