What Bukayo Saka was spotted doing after he came off for Arsenal in win over Sevilla

Arsenal edged closer to qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 2-0 victory over Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium.

However, what would’ve been a near-perfect evening for the Gunners was marred by Bukayo Saka having to come off due to a knock.

In the 82nd minute of the match, the Arsenal star appeared to have landed awkwardly from an aerial challenge, and had to get some treatment on the pitch.

Saka tried to continue, coming back on after hobbling on the sidelines to test out his ankle, but in the end, he had to come off.

While it’s concerning to see the 22-year-old Gunners star having to come off due to injury, journalist James Olley mentioned something “encouraging” about what happened.

Namely, Saka putting a coat on and watching the last few minutes of the game from the bench.

“Obviously impossible to know the extent of his injury,” ESPN’s Olley wrote on X.

“But an encouraging sign for Arsenal that he hasn’t gone straight down the tunnel.”

Then, Simon Collings of the Evening Standard provided another somewhat encouraging update on Saka’s fitness.

“Saka comes onto pitch at full-time and high-fives some team-mates,” he wrote on X.

“Still limping. Asked by Ben White what issue is, it seems, and points to left foot.

“Good thing is no ice on it and he didn’t go straight down tunnel for treatment.”

While we’ve obviously got to wait what Mikel Arteta says, the fact he didn’t head straight down the tunnel and was sticking around at full time means it’s hopefully nothing serious.

This isn’t the first time this season that Saka has gone down during a game and has had to come off.

The Gunners starboy is often on the receiving end of a lot of challenges from opposition players, and he also has a lot of workload.

This season, Saka has made 17 appearances for club and country so far. And last season, he made 48 Arsenal outings in all competitions, as per The Mirror.

Let’s hope it’s nothing serious, but also let’s hope that, during the January transfer window, Arteta can bring in someone who can lessen Saka’s workload.
