What Bournemouth sources are now saying about Dominic Solanke and Newcastle

Dominic Solanke has been linked with a move to Newcastle United over the past 24 hours.

According to The Telegraph, the Magpies have asked about the striker’s availability. However, according to Ben Jacobs, this story may not be have that much to it.

Indeed, speaking on the Fully Loaded Transfer Show, Jacobs stated that sources at Bournemouth are denying this story, and while Newcastle do really like Solanke, he sees this being more of a summer deal.

Bournemouth deny Solanke rumours

Jacobs shared what he knows about the striker.

“So the story is being denied by sources close to Bournemouth. That is normal in some ways in terms of protectinig your position. What I can tell you is that Newcastle really like Solanke, not just because of the Howe connections but Dan Ashworth as well. I think this is one for the summer both financially and feasibly,” Jacobs said.

Don’t need him

It wouldn’t be a surprise if this was nothing more than a rumour. After all, Newcastle don’t really need Solanke right now.

The Magpies already have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson as striking options, and, in all honesty, both of those players are way too good to be third-choice options in any team.

Solanke could come in in the summer if Newcastle decide to let either Wilson or Isak go, but this month, a new striker signing would be overkill, especially as the Magpies are battling against FFP restrictions as things stand in any case.

Newcastle probably won’t be all that busy this month, and a blockbuster signing like Solanke may have to wait until the summer comes around.

This is a situation to keep an eye on, but we wouldn’t hold our breaths waiting for any major updates on this front as it would appear this one may not be able to get off the ground.
