TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Barcelona have informed Marcus Rashford’s camp that they will only be able to sign him on loan this January if they make a sale before deadline day.

A move to La Liga is Rashford’s ideal transfer as his time at Manchester United looks set to come to an end on a temporary basis at the very least.

Sources have told TBR Football that Rashford’s dream destination is Barcelona, who was not named in United’s squad for their 1-0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

However, a switch to Barcelona does not seem as straightforward as one would assume for the England international.

Barcelona inform Marcus Rashford’s camp they need to sell to make loan move possible

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that for Barcelona to be able to pull off a loan move for Marcus Rashford, the players they could have moved on this month were Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen and Ansu Fati.

However, Garcia has undergone an upturn in form, prompting Hansi Flick to vouch for him staying at the club.

Tottenham were reportedly interested in Barcelona defender Christensen, who has just returned to fitness and is in no rush to leave the Spotify Camp Nou.

As for Ansu Fati, the Blaugrana are ready to sell the 22-year-old.

However, Hansi Flick admitted after the game that the silky winger wishes to stay at Barcelona.

Flick said via Mundo Deportivo: “I have no new information on Ansu Fati.”

“He wants to stay, that’s fine. But, others deserved to play today. Now he’s much better in training. He’s improved, and we’ll help him.”

Rashford was close to joining Barcelona in the past and the Spanish giants have assured the 27-year-old’s camp that they would be willing to take on a portion of his wages if they sign him on a loan deal.

However, the Catalan juggernaut are yet to make a formal approach to sign the FA Cup winner from Manchester United.

Furthermore, Ruben Amorim’s side would like a significant chunk of Rashford’s wages to be covered by Barcelona, a factor of any potential loan move that they have even offered the player’s camp about.

If Rashford does end up heading to Barcelona on loan, Hansi Flick’s men that have made it clear to him that he would have to fight for a starting place.

The Europa League champion would also not be guaranteed as a first-choice starter for Barcelona, given how extraordinary their front three of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha has been this season.

Update about Marcus Rashford’s Man United future if Barcelona loan move breaks down

Sources have notified TBR Football that in the event that Rashford’s potential loan move to Barcelona fails to come to fruition, he will stay at Manchester United until the end of the season.

Ruben Amorim has informed the United academy graduate that he has a way back in his team.

However, the only way Rashford can do so is by bettering his performances in training.

After Manchester United’s latest win against Fulham, Ruben Amorim sent a public message to the superstar forward to up his level in training.

Amorim said via HaytersTV: “It’s always the same reason.”

“The reason is what I think a footballer should do in training, in life. It’s every day, every detail. If things don’t change, I will not change.”

Ruben Amorim added: “It’s the same situation for every player. If you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player. You can see it today on the bench. We missed a little bit of pace to go, to change the game to move the pieces but I prefer it like that.”

“I will put [Jorge] Vital [Manchester United’s goalkeeping coach] before a put a player that doesn’t put in the maximum every day. So, I will not change in that department.”

TBR Football understands that the hierarchy at Old Trafford fully support Ruben Amorim’s handling of Rashford and the situation surrounding the exit-linked goalscorer.
