Aaron Ramsdale endured a nightmarish moment after making a return to the Arsenal starting XI against Brentford.
David Raya was unable to feature – due to the fact he is on loan from the Bees – so there was just a sixth Premier League start for the England international.
However, disaster struck in the 49th minute as Yoane Wissa blocked the Arsenal No.1’s attempted clearance, diverting it goalwards to make it 1-1.
Just after Robert Jones blew his whistle for half-time, there was an interesting moment between Aaron Ramsdale and Arsenal‘s goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana…
What Inaki Cana was seen doing with Aaron Ramsdale
Well, it is hard not to feel sorry for Ramsdale, and Cana ensured the 25-year-old did not have to make the painful trudge back to the dressing room alone.
The Spaniard could be seen rushing over to the Chesterton-born glovesman to console him after the mistake, as a number of his Arsenal teammates slapped his hand to show their support.
With all eyes on Ramsdale due to the absence of Raya, this error would have been the last thing he wanted to happen – to say the very least.
It could be his final appearance for Arsenal
If today’s 2-1 does turn out to be Ramsdale’s final game for the Gunners, it would be an eventful way to end.
Barring any injury to Raya, it is highly likely that the Spain international starts all of Arsenal’s remaining matches this season, having made 22 Premier League starts so far this term.

The summer transfer window will then be upon us when the 2023/24 campaign ends, and there is plenty of uncertainty surrounding Ramsdale’s future at the Emirates Stadium – Chelsea are believed to be keen, while Newcastle could also make a move.
Therefore, today’s devastating 2-1 win may well be the Englishman’s final outing for Arsenal, a match where he went from zero to hero after some crucial second-half saves.
