Arsenal and Manchester United are both looking to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich before the transfer deadline.
The two clubs are on the market looking to reinforce their attack.
The Gunners have been in need of a new player at the top end of their pitch for a long time now, while Manchester United are looking to bring in a forward to replace Marcus Rashford, who is joining Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.
Tel is a key target for Arsenal and Manchester United, and there is now an update on the situation.
What happened after Arsenal made contact to sign Mathys Tel?
Tel has been a wanted man in the final week of the transfer window.
The Frenchman was initially expected to stay at Bayern Munich, but he changed his mind recently and began to attract serious interest.
Tottenham tried to sign Tel but were rejected by the player, but two other clubs remain concrete options for him ahead of Monday’s deadline.
TBR Football revealed that Arsenal and Manchester United are still in the race for Tel, and there’s now a positive update for one club.
The Guardian have revealed that the Gunners made ‘initial contact’ with Tel’s representatives and they have ‘received encouragement that he would be willing to move to North London’.
However, at the time of writing, Arsenal have not held any talks with Bayern Munich over the terms of a loan or if the deal will include any option or obligation to buy clause.
Tel, whose future is up in the air, was left out of Bayern’s game against Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Mathys Tel would solve three problems at Arsenal
Arsenal are nine points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table at the moment, but the title race is still not over.
The Gunners are hoping to turn things around in the coming months, and Tel could have a serious impact if he is brought to the Emirates.
The Bayern Munich man can play anywhere across the front three, and Arsenal have had problems in all of those positions.
Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli haven’t been at their best on the left this season, while Bukayo Saka is still out injured on the right. Kai Havertz has done a good job through the middle, but Arsenal need another player up top following Gabriel Jesus’ injury.
Tel, if Arsenal can sign him, will offer solutions in all three positions, and that could make a big difference in the coming months.
