The January transfer window is just around the corner, and Arsenal are a team who probably should be busy this winter.
Indeed, Arsenal are lagging behind in the title race at the moment, but the gap to Liverpool isn’t impossible to bridge.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 14 | 11 | 2 | 1 | 29 | 11 | 18 | 35 | |

With the right additions, Arsenal could push on in the second-half of the season.
Arsenal need a striker in the eyes of many, while the Gunners are also said to be looking at wide options.
Nico Williams has been linked to Arsenal recently, while Rafael Leao is also a target.
However, according to John Cross, speaking to The Mirror, the word out of Arsenal is that there wasn’t be much major movement in January and that Arsenal will wait until the summer to do any more big deals.

Arsenal not likely to make big January signings
Cross shared what he’s hearing from Arsenal about the January window.
The journalist says that Arsenal are unlikely to do any big deals this winter, claiming that their stance is to be more reactive than proactive.
“I’m not really sure it’s all about replacing Havertz, but they had strong intentions last summer. I think it’s more important to get more quality down the left.
“Do I think they will do it in January? Probably not. I think they will be more reactive than proactive The vibe is that it will probably be in the summer when they perhaps look at deals again.
“I would be surprised if they did a big one in January, I really really would.”
Arsenal’s biggest January signings
It’s not much of a surprise to hear that Arsenal won’t be all that busy in the winter window.
Indeed, barring an emergency, Arsenal aren’t historically a team that do their major business in January.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrival in 2018 was the exception to this rule, but that deal came after Alexis Sanchez left for Manchester United, so Arsenal needed to be active that month.
| Arsenal’s biggest January signings | Fee |
| Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | £55m |
| Leandro Trossard | £27m |
| Jakub Kiwior | £21m |
| Andrey Arshavin | £18m |
| Jose Antonio Reyes | £17m |
Arsenal have had busy January windows in the past, two years ago they made three first-team signings in the winter in the shape of Jakub Kiwior, Leandro Trossard and Jorginho, but, most of the time, Arsenal are inactive, especially if they’ve had a big summer.
As Cross says, Arsenal will be reactive in January, so if the right deal comes up for the right price, there could be some movement. Arsenal did make a big bid for Mykhaylo Mudryk a few years ago when they thought he was the right signing.
Of course, Mudyrk has since struggled at Chelsea, and Arsenal may be wary of making a mistake in January, so perhaps a big-money bid for a star player won’t be forthcoming next month.
Arsenal are likely to keep their powder dry until the summer transfer window.
