Arsenal have finally completed the signing most fans were pining for – a new striker.
Mikel Arteta was left relying on a midfielder in Mikel Merino to plug that gap towards the end of last season following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz – the latter of whom was not even signed to be a striker initially.
However, the £64m capture of Viktor Gyokeres should fix the problem, a man who can boast 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting CP.
A creative midfielder is also on the list for Andrea Berta at Arsenal – and Sports Zone believe a move is about to be made for Eberechi Eze.
Arsenal ready to submit opening bid for Eberechi Eze
Sports Zone stated on Saturday that Arsenal reached an agreement on personal terms with the Crystal Palace No.10 – and are ready to send an offer to the south Londoners.
TBR Football understand Eze has told close friends that he expects to join Arsenal this summer, after an immense 2024/25 campaign in which he scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances.
The man from Greenwich also scored the goal to win Crystal Palace the FA Cup.
Sports Zone add that Arsenal will consider triggering Eze’s £68m release clause should Crystal Palace reject their opening bid.
There has been little movement on the situation since Saturday, with the Crystal Palace star currently in Austria for pre-season training, so nothing is imminent as things stand.
What Eberechi Eze has previously said about Arsenal
Should the England international seal a move to the Emirates Stadium, it would signal a romantic return to N5 for the attacking midfielder.
Arsenal actually released Eze when he was just 13 years of age, a moment which devastated the Londoner, due to the fact the Gunners are his “dream” club.
The 27-year-old told Rising Ballers: “Arsenal was probably the hardest (rejection). My dream was to play for them, so hearing them say no at 13 was tough. I remember training after I got released and I couldn’t focus, I was just crying whilst training.
“But I think that helped me so much in all the other rejections because if I can get through Arsenal releasing me, I can get through any other club releasing me.”
Soon, Eze – who Bukayo Saka called “class” – could finally realise his dream of playing for Arsenal.
