‘What are they doing?’: Jamie O'Hara tears into Arsenal transfer rumour
Jamie O’Hara has ripped into Arsenal because of the transfer rumour he’s hearing linking them to Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
TalkSPORT claims that the Gunners are preparing a £30million bid for the shot-stopper this summer.
The report explains Sheffield Untied have already turned down two offers for him, but a new bid may be imminent.
In addition, Arsenal now consider Ramsdale their number one goalkeeper target, despite links to West Brom’s Sam Johnstone.
Ramsdale, 23, suffered relegation from the Premier League last season. However, he may be about to make an instant return to the top flight.
TalkSPORT pundit O’Hara has teared into the potential deal though because he’s convinced they are overpaying.
“This literally sums Arsenal up,” O’Hara told talkSPORT.
“They got rid of [Emiliano] Martinez who’s a brilliant keeper for £20million. And then they are going to go sign someone from a relegated team for £30million. What are they doing? They are a mess.”
Arsenal target Aaron Ramsdale can’t help his price tag
Unfortunately, Ramsdale is receiving plenty of stick when in reality it’s not his fault the way the transfer market works.
Arsenal’s expected £30million offer is a lot for someone that does have two relegations on CV, but people should cut him some slack.
First of all, the 23-year-old would be a long-term investment at his age if he moves to the Emirates Stadium. Also, he’s had to play behind some really poor defences in front of him. Finally, he was part of the Euro 2020 squad this summer with runners-up England, so he’s clearly well thought of by his country.
