Aiden McGeady continued his fine form for Sunderland yesterday, netting his sixth goal in seven games.
McGeady scored the opener for Sunderland during their 1-1 draw with Walsall in the FA Cup.
And while Sunderland fans will be frustrated that they need to play another game when the replay happens, McGeady’s performance had the supporters very excited.
The Republic of Ireland international had a slow start to the season after recovering from injury.
But after failing to find the net in his first seven appearances this season, his next seven games have yielded six goals.
The 32-year-old has settled in at League One level and is now ready to spearhead a promotion push under Jack Ross at Sunderland.
He took his goal well yesterday in the cup, popping up in the right place at the right time to put the Black Cats ahead.
Bryan Oviedo’s cross was not dealt with and McGeady arrived in the box to stroke the ball home, scoring the goal that his display deserved.
Below are some tweets from Sunderland fans, who were left drooling over McGeady’s performance against Walsall.
