Stan Collymore has praised Newcastle United defender Dan Burn in his latest CaughtOffside column.
The pundit admits that he didn’t think Burn was a signing the Magpies board would’ve made.
However, Collymore believes the £13million man has been a “solid addition” to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side.

Burn joined the Magpies in the January transfer window from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 30-year-old has been an ever-present for Newcastle since arriving at his boyhood club.
Burn has made 29 appearances for the Magpies and has started 12 of 13 Premier League games for his side this term.
His efforts have helped Newcastle climb into the top four, losing just once and conceding just 10 goals.
And Collymore believes the Magpies’ recruitment policy has been outstanding.
Newcastle United are absolutely flying,” he wrote on CaughtOffside.
“Eddie Howe is doing a remarkable job in the northeast.
“Their most recent game saw them thump one of my old clubs – Aston Villa.
“Their signings have been excellent.
“Dan Burn, for example, he was not a player that I thought their new owners would go for.
“But they have and what a solid addition he’s been. The same can be said for all their new arrivals.
“They have bought in players, particularly in defence, who are big, powerful and most importantly, humble.
“Genuinely solid signings and it’s showing.
“I thought when their new owners came in, the type of signings they’d make would be to look for a cut-price deal for Harry Maguire, or bring in an out-of-form Galactico, similar to Villa signing Philippe Coutinho.
“But no – they’ve gone the other way.”

Credit to Newcastle
Newcastle’s new owners made it clear that they wouldn’t just go on a shopping spree for new players after taking over the club.
Instead, the Magpies have made shrewd signings, bringing in talented players with the right attitude.
And Newcastle have been reaping the benefits, comfortably staying up last season and moving into the top four this term.
Burn is a shining example of such a player – talented, hard-working, boasting the right attitude, and a perfect fit for Newcastle.
