Aston Villa beat Arsenal this evening and Shay Given has lauded the performance of Villa midfielder John McGinn.
McGinn was once again exceptional for Villa and got himself the winning goal to extend Villa’s winning run at home to 15 games.
The Villans look a different animal under Unai Emery and there is a genuine belief among the players and fans that this could be a hugely special season for them.

They are firmly in the top four, some five points above Man City, and well in the title picture as well.
And watching the game for Premier League Productions, former Newcastle goalie Shay Given lauded the performance of McGinn.
“What a player John McGinn is for this club. A captain and leader in every sense both on and off the pitch. Winning the league might be a big ask for them, but if you look at the top four, they will be thinking they have a real chance,” Given said.
McGinn a real top player now for Villa
To say Villa paid just £2m for McGinn, he hasn’t half turned out to be one of the best signings they’ve ever made.
He seems to get better and better and tonight he just showed how good he can be.
McGinn ran the midfield in terms of that area behind the strikers and he did it against one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe in the form of Declan Rice.
The Villa fans love him and rightly so. And at the moment, McGinn is the driving force behind Villa’s resurgence in English football.
