'What a player': Peter Schmeichel says Liverpool have a top talent in their ranks
Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold has been praised by Peter Schmeichel following his efforts on Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old is one of the Anfield academy’s greatest success stories in recent years.
Alexander-Arnold has become arguably the best right-back in world football en route to the club game’s top trophies.
Since making his debut in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has clocked up 184 senior competitive appearances for Liverpool.
He has also claimed 10 goals and 47 assists, while at international level, he has 14 England caps.
On Wednesday, Liverpool got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start.
The Reds took the lead against AC Milan, who then scored twice on the stroke of half time, before Jurgen Klopp’s side then scored twice more for a 3-2 win.
Alexander-Arnold and Salah combined on the right to force Liverpool’s opening goal, Fikayo Tomori deflecting the ball into his own net.
“I was a bit excited towards the end of the first half when AC Milan came back,” Schmeichel told told Paramount+ on CBS Sports (15/09/21 at 10:15 pm).
“There was absolutely no need for Milan to be let into this game.
“Liverpool were dominant right from the beginning. The big players, you know, Trent Alexander-Arnold, what a player he is.
“The way he combines with Salah, it’s just beautiful to watch.”
