Pape Matar Sarr and Micky van de Ven have both lauded one Tottenham Hotspur teammate after the win over Luton Town.

Tottenham have made a habit of falling behind in home games of late and once again conceded first on Saturday afternoon.

Luton struck early as Tahith Chong opened the scoring inside three minutes with an exceptional finish.

Spurs dominated thereafter, with Heung-min Son hitting both posts before Pape Matar Sarr’s follow-up effort was cleared off the line.

Timo Werner also missed a brilliant opportunity before the halfway point but it was Brennan Johnson who changed the game in the second half.

The 22-year-old replaced Dejan Kulusevski at halftime and came off the bench to play a key role in both goals.

Sarr and Van de Ven blown away by Johnson’s display

Johnson fizzed a ball across the Luton box just six minutes after entering the action following a give-and-go with Pedro Porro.

The Welshman’s delivery was the turned into the goal by Issa Kabore, who got his clearance all wrong.

Spurs left it late once again as Son popped up with a winner in the 86th minute. It was Johnson who provided the assist as his touch in the box set up the Tottenham skipper.

Johnson took to Instagram after Saturday’s win to express his delight at picking up a crucial three points.

It led to praise from a host of Tottenham players beneath the post, with Van de Ven lauding his display as ‘top’.

Sarr also replied: “What a player,” while Guglielmo Vicario labelled Johnson a ‘game changer’.

Johnson’s stats vs Luton

Despite only being on the pitch for 45 minutes, Johnson posted some impressive numbers against the Hatters.

The Tottenham star managed three key passes, one tackle and completed one dribble, according to WhoScored

Of course, he also provided a crucial assist and was unfortunate not to give Tottenham the lead after Alfie Doughty cleared his effort off the line.

The £45 million winger has now netted four times and provided seven assists since his deadline-day switch from Nottingham Forest last summer.
