Jamie O’Hara has heaped praise on Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard and has been left amazed by his development under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal opened up a seven point lead at the top of the Premier League table over the weekend as they beat Brighton 4-2.

The Gunners put in yet another impressive display and Odegaard got amongst the goals and assists once again.

The 24-year-old has now registered seven goal contributions in his last five outings in the league under Arteta and O’Hara has waxed lyrical about his displays.

O’Hara on Odegaard

The former Tottenham midfielder admitted that Arsenal look like a ‘special’ side this season and singled out Odegaard for praise.

“They’re flying high at the top of the table, can they actually win it?,” O’Hara told TalkSPORT.

“Now they’re seven points clear, the fact is that they can afford to lose to Man City and still win the league – that’s the scary thing!

“The thing we always see with Arsenal is when you have a game like this, you go to Brighton away, and they might struggle, they can get bullied, they won’t get it done. But fair play to Arsenal, they’re playing some top football.

“You look at them now and Odegaard, what a player he’s turned into, a top player. They just look a complete side.

“The title is there for them now. They’ve got the bit between their teeth, they’ve got confidence, they’ve got that belief. Something is going on there, for sure. They’re looking a bit special.

“It’s going to be a difficult one to watch as a Spurs fan, for sure. Every time I watch Arsenal I’m like, ‘Someone just beat this team!’

“It pains me to say, but I actually find it very hard not to enjoy watching this Arsenal team play. They’re that good.”

Odegaard has really stepped up his game this season and has developed into a complete player under Arteta.

The Norwegian has not only added goals to his game, but he’s become a leader on the pitch and took to his new role as captain with ease.

He’s become arguably Arsenal’s most important player during the current campaign and when he plays well, so does the rest of Arteta’s side. The Gunners snapped him up for just £30 million back in 2021 and it’s looking like an incredible piece of business from the north Londoners.
