‘What a guy’: Aaron Lennon reacts on Twitter after hearing what one Tottenham man said last night

Aaron Lennon took to social media last night and heaped praise on Ange Postecoglou following Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Chelsea.

Spurs suffered a 4-1 loss at home to their London rivals after an eventful 90 minutes in North London.

Tottenham were forced to play a large chunk of the second half with nine men after Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were both sent off.

Dejan Kulusevski had opened the scoring for Spurs inside six minutes but Romero’s red card in the 33rd minute completely changed the game.

The Argentine gave away a penalty and was dismissed after a rash tackle on Enzo Fernandez. Cole Palmer made no mistake from the spot but Spurs put in a resilient display thereafter.

Indeed, even after Udogie was given his marching orders in the 55th minute, Tottenham held out until the 75th minute and continued to play a high defensive line.

Spurs even came close to grabbing an equaliser on a couple of occasions as Son Heung-Min and Rodrigo Bentancur went close after Nicolas Jackson put Chelsea ahead.

And Aaron Lennon has praised Ange Postecoglou for his approach in last night’s London derby.

Lennon reacts to Postecoglou’s post-match comments

Postecoglou faced the media after last night’s defeat and was questioned on his decision to persist with a high defensive line even with nine men.

“It is just who we are mate, it is who we are and who we will be for as long as I am here,” he told Yahoo Sport. “If we go down to five men we will have a go.”

And it’s fair to say that former Spurs winger Lennon loved Postecoglou’s comments.

“You have to love Big Ange though what a guy. Even with 5 men we will have a crack,” he wrote on X

Postecoglou’s bold approach nearly paid off as Eric Dier had a goal ruled out in the latter stages of the game due to being marginally offside.

Of course, the high defensive line did ultimately cost Spurs as they conceded three almost identical goals which led to their first defeat of the Premier League season.

Nevertheless, Postecoglou has shown he will not change his approach regardless of the opposition or circumstances his team finds themselves in.
