The Telegraph claimed earlier today that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Everton star Jordan Pickford. Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale is a big fan.
Spurs already have Hugo Lloris but the Frenchman has entered the final year of his contract. Daniel Levy would ideally like to retain his services, but if the report is to be believed, Conte prefers the England number one instead.
Pickford is a phenomenal goalkeeper, there’s no doubt about that. His distribution is up there with the very best in the Premier League, and his ability to play out from the back is something that could be hugely beneficial to Conte’s Spurs.
Some Tottenham fans have their doubts about Pickford, but a fan favourite at the home of their fierce rivals, Ramsdale, recently claimed that he wants to emulate the Everton man in the coming years. That should convince the doubters – well, Conte would hope so.
Aaron Ramsdale wants to emulate Tottenham target Jordan Pickford
The Arsenal goalkeeper said on England’s official YouTube channel recently, as covered on TBR Football: “I think he’s going to be one of England’s best goalkeepers, (look at) the success he has had with the football team.
“What a character he is as well, just a great guy to be around day in day out when you are in camp, he is always making you smile.
“For someone who’s not overly old and is still quite young, he’s always happy to give some tips. It’s great to be here pushing him and he’s someone I’m looking forward to hopefully one day emulate.”

It’s natural for some Tottenham fans to have their doubts over Pickford considering some of the mistakes he has made in the Premier League for Everton over the years.

The 23-year-old’s recent performances have squashed all of those doubts. Ramsdale has proved his class and is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the country at the moment.
Pickford is currently ahead of the Arsenal man in the England pecking order, which should tell you that Gareth Southgate sees something in him that’s better than Ramsdale. That should convince Spurs fans about a potential move in January or in the summer.
