‘What a beast’: Leeds fans have been proven right about Barry Douglas

Leeds United supporters were extremely excited when they secured the signing of defender Barry Douglas in the summer and they have been proven right so far.

The 29-year-old made the switch to Elland Road from Wolverhampton Wanderers for just £3million (Sky Sports) and has made a brilliant start to the season.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa signed him to help fix the struggling left-back area and he’s made the position his own since.

The Scotsman is an attack-minded full-back and he’s shown that by chipping in with three assists in 11 appearances, while his set-piece delivery has turned into a main threat for Leeds.

His defensive qualities have also shone through too and he has been a mainstay in a backline that look fairly resilient under Bielsa.

One Leeds fan predicted he would be one of the club’s best transfers in recent years and he’s well on the way to fulfilling that claim.

Douglas has settled extremely quickly at Elland Road to become a key player, but unfortunately the left-back missed the Brentford game before the international break with a hamstring injury.

His £3million signing looks like money very well spent so far and his experience of a Championship promotion with Wolves should be a big influence in the Leeds dressing room.

Here is how some Leeds fans responded to signing Douglas back at the end of July:
