West Ham youth coach Zavon Hines has poked fun at Tottenham Hotspur following their 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United on Thursday night – just 24 hours after the Hammers beat Chelsea 3-2.

Spurs failed to get a result against Sheffield United in what was a crucial clash to keep their Champions League hopes alive. However, VAR had a big say in the match – ruling out a Harry Kane goal.

The Blades picked up three points as Sander Berge, Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie all found the back of the net. With the score at 1-0, though, Kane saw his effort controversially chalked off due to a Lucas Moura handball.

Kane did eventually score, but only in injury time as a consolation. Hines, a West Ham youth coach at Under-14 level and a former Hammers player, reacted to Tottenham’s defeat – by poking fun at the north London side.

The defeat for Tottenham sees them remain in ninth place, missing an opportunity to close the gap on Jose Mourinho’s former side Chelsea – who West Ham had beaten 3-2 thanks to Andriy Yarmolenko’s late strike.

Spurs remain in ninth place, nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and even level on points with Burnley. West Ham, meanwhile, have taken a huge step towards safety – climbing to 16th and three clear of the drop zone.
