West Ham United are extremely close to the signing of Villarreal attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The 23-year-old scored five goals and registered six assists last season and has two Spain caps to his name.

Manuel Pellegrini has managed Fornals previously during his time at Malaga.

Fornals could be the creative spark that the Hammers were lacking last season. He can operate on either flank or in behind a lone striker.

AS report that West Ham will fight off interest in the youngster from Napoli and this deal could be seen as a bit of a coup for the Premier League outfit.

The Hammers will fork out £24 million for the Spain international, according to the Daily Mail.

After finishing in 10th place last season Pellegrini will hope to improve on that and attempt to reach the top half of the table.

The signing of a player with the ability of Fornals would hand the club every chance of doing just that.

Naturally, at this time of the year supporters have taken to Twitter to react about this latest development.

The vast majority of the Hammers support is unanimous that Fornals would be a great signing and we rounded up what they were posting on social media.
