West Ham United speed merchant is proving this season’s unsung hero

West Ham United wrote their names into history on Saturday as they became the first opposition team to win at Tottenham’s new stadium. The Hammers ran out 1-0 victors to leave their fans absolutely delighted.

Manuel Pellegrini has had a reasonable first campaign at the London Stadium. His team currently sit in 11th in the Premier League and the hope next season will be to secure a comfortable top half finish.

Michail Antonio captured the hearts of the West Ham faithful on Saturday. His goal gave the Hammers bragging rights over their London rivals, becoming the first opposition player to score past Spurs in their new home.

The 29-year-old has come into his own this season under Pellegrini’s management. His work rate is second to none; whilst he has five goals and seven assists to his name during the campaign.

Since arriving at West Ham for £7 million from Nottingham Forest (Sky Sports), his application and tireless running have seen him adhered to the West Ham faithful.

He has had his fitness problems during his time at the club but they now look consigned to the past.

The challenge for Antonio now is to add some consistency to his game and continue contributing towards goals and assists.

His goal against Spurs was a great moment for the speed merchant and he can rightly be called one of West Ham’s unsung heroes of the 2018/19 campaign.
