Many West Ham supporters rage at performance of Manuel Lanzini in Chelsea loss

West Ham United were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last night thanks to a masterclass from Eden Hazard.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men are now pretty much resigned to a mid-table finish this season and were well beaten against their London rivals.

It was a thankless task to expect anything from the game with Maurizio Sarri’s men, despite their sporadic form of late.

Losing to a city rival will still sting though and Pellegrini will hope for a response at Manchester United on Saturday.

Prior to the World Cup, last summer Manuel Lanzini rocked West Ham by rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

He returned in February and is working his way back to his best. Some Hammers supporters are keen to not rush him back. Others, however, expect him to hit the ground running straight away.

It wasn’t his best game in the claret and blue against Chelsea. Fitness is key for the long-term casualty between now and May, with emphasis placed on next season.

After the loss, West Ham fans took to Twitter to vent various frustrations at the £70k-a-week performer (Spotrac). Some of the critiques were out in full force, with the 26-year-old in the firing line for some supporters:
