West Ham United have given themselves a huge boost in their hopes of staying in the Premier League with an excellent 3-1 win over fellow relegation battlers Watford at the London Stadium.

The Hammers raced into a 3-0 half-time lead. In-form Michail Antonio smashed home the opening goal and Declan Rice hit a brilliant long-range effort for the third.

But it was the man who scored their second goal who had West Ham tongues wagging.

Tomas Soucek scored yet another header for the Hammers, with West Ham fans lavishing praise on their new Czech hero.

West Ham snapped up the midfielder on loan from Slavia Prague in January and he has quickly become an integral part of David Moyes’ system.

Not only is he a potent goal threat because of his aerial ability, but he covers incredible distances in games, doing both attacking and defensive work.

His goal v Watford was the 25-year-old’s third goal since the restart and they have all come in crucial games.

Earlier this week, Soucek made it clear to Sky Sports that his move to West Ham will become permanent if the club remains in the Premier League. Tonight he helped West Ham inch ever closer to that goal. At which point, Hammers fans will be buzzing to see him sign permanently.
