West Ham United fans react as club reportedly open talks to sign Nikola Maksimovic
West Ham United are reportedly in talks to sign Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic before next Monday’s deadline as David Moyes desperately looks to bring in a centre-back – and Hammers fans have responded on Twitter.
The Hammers have targeted bringing a central defender to the London Stadium before Monday’s deadline. Burnley star James Tarkowski has been linked, but it appears the English defender will be on his way to Leicester City.
However, the Hammers remain undeterred – as per reports. David Sullivan confirmed that the Hammers had bids in for numerous players, but they have failed to secure a second summer addition – other than a permanent deal for Tomas Soucek.

Numerous defenders have been linked. Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, St. Etienne youngster Wesley Fofana and other central defenders are being considered – as is 25-time Serbia ace Maksimovic, following his stunning efforts during 2019-20.
Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claim West Ham have tabled an offer for the ex-Spartak Moscow and Torino defender – and are in talks to secure a deal. A Daily Mail report claims he is rated at just £14million.
West Ham fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their side are interested in 28-year-old Maksimovic, and many have urged their club to get a deal done for the 6ft 3in rock – with one fan claiming he is “better than Rugani”.

He would instantly improve us at CB but he is also comfortable covering DCM which worries me about losing Rice.

Better than Rugani. Surely.
