West Ham United fans react as club post Tweet about Dimitri Payet

West Ham United uploaded a video of Dimitri Payet’s best free-kicks for the east London club as June 26 marked four years since the Hammers signed him from Marseille – and many fans want him back.

Payet, 32, signed for the Hammers in June 2015 and remained with the club until January 2017. He clocked up 60 appearances after his £10.5million move (The Sun), scoring 15 goals and laying on 23 assists.

But his exit from the Hammers still has fans hating the France international to this day. His behaviour saw him frozen out of the first-team squad, before being sold back to Marseille for a fee in the region of £25million (The Sun).

Since leaving the Hammers he has played 102 times for Marseille, becoming the club’s captain and scoring 21 goals and laying on 35 assists. Now, he could be set to leave Marseille with the club looking to mask their debt.

Indeed, Marseille are willing to listen to offers for Payet as well as Florian Thauvin, Kevin Strootman and other players. TeamTalk relayed news that suggests Payet is available for just £6.25million.

He is said to be earning a huge £107,000 a week at Marseille, and the dubious report claims Everton, Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion are keen. West Ham fans reacted to the club’s Tweet, urging him to return.
