West Ham United supporters have been reacting a report the club are interested in signing Nantes midfielder Abdoulaye Toure.

According to France Football, David Moyes is after strengthening his midfield ahead of a potential relegation battle, and sees Toure as a means of doing that.

Apparently the Hammers want to loan the Frenchman with an option to buy, but Nantes want a straight £12.5 million deal.

Toure has been with Nantes since he was a kid, and made his first-team debut for the club in 2013.

He’s gone on to make 124 appearances for the club to date, and now wears the captain’s armband.

Toure’s current contract runs until the summer of 2022, which would suggest any potential transfer would not break the bank for West Ham.

Given their precarious situation in the Premier League, perhaps they just need to act and get the player in on a permanent deal, rather than risk messing Nantes around.

Toure would surely improve West Ham in the middle of the park, because at the moment there is a serious lack of energy and drive with Declan Rice and Mark Noble.

They are two very popular figures at the club, but sometimes their lack of pace can leave them overrun in midfield.

There was a mixed reaction to the links to Toure on social media, with some urging the club to get a deal done with just one week remaining in the transfer window, and others frustrated:
