West Ham target Victor Wanyama can guide them to European push
West Ham are reportedly keen on signing Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama.
According to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old has been discussed by the Hammers as a potential target ahead of the January transfer window.
The report details that the Kenya international is one of the players that Spurs could offload in January despite the fact he is not keen to leave.
But West Ham should definitely look to pounce on the enforcer’s situation and he would be a brilliant addition at the London Stadium.
Wanyama may have his fair share of bad luck with injuries, but when fit he has the qualities to walk into Manuel Pellegrini’s starting XI.
The defensive midfielder is a powerhouse with a proven record in the English top flight and he could form a great combination alongside Declan Rice for the Hammers.
West Ham are currently ninth in a congested Premier League table and just a point adrift of seventh-placed Leicester, while sixth-placed Manchester United are only another three ahead.
It’s no unreasonable to suggest West Ham can make a real push for the European spots in the second half of the campaign if they just find more consistency.
They have won five of their last six league games to rise up the table, but they kicked off the campaign with four consecutive defeats.
Pellegrini has the quality in his squad to enjoy a really strong second half of the season and the talented Wanyama would only make them even more formidable in the centre of the park.
