West Ham are reportedly considering a move to sign Everton midfielder James McCarthy on loan this January.
According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers may be interested in a temporary move for the 28-year-old following his return from a serious long-term injury.
It is understood that Premier League outfit Fulham and Championship team West Brom have also targeted the no-nonsense enforcer.
McCarthy has been sidelined for almost a year due to a horrific leg break, but is now back from injury and trying to force his way into first-team contention at Goodison Park under Marco Silva.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini could strike gold if he can help the defensive midfielder recapture his old form at the London Stadium.

A loan spell makes perfect sense for the Hammers due to the fact it would be less of a risk and potentially have major reward
He could be paired alongside fellow Republic of Ireland international Declan Rice in the West Ham midfield and they would provide a solid platform.
McCarthy has proven in the past he can be a dependable figure in front of the back four at Premier League level and could be an under the radar loan signing in January.
