West Ham United are in drastic need of reinforcements.
The club have lost their first two Premier League games, and already look set for another season of struggle the way things are going.
Defensive reinforcements are a must, but it can also be argued that the team’s engine room is in need of some attention.
Mark Noble is not getting any younger and currently he is one of three options for David Moyes, the other two being Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
West Ham could do with some reinvigoration in the middle of the park, which is why the club should consider looking at talented Barcelona youngster Riqui Puig, who has surprisingly been deemed surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.
The midfielder wasn’t in Barca’s squad to face Elche at the weekend, and Ronald Koeman has said he would recommend Puig go out on loan (via Barcelona Blaugranes).
West Ham would be showing good ambition by making a move for a player who has previously been likened to Andres Iniesta (Sport).
TBR’s View – Puig could dazzle at London Stadium
It isn’t often that a young player as talented as Puig becomes available for loan, so West Ham should definitely make some enquiries.
Puig is predicted to do great things in his career, and news of Koeman’s stance over the youngster has caused a fair amount of surprise, with ex-Barca player Gary Lineker among many to express his shock on Twitter.
It’s a bit doom and gloom at West Ham at the moment and fans are absolutely right to be frustrated – but the board can set about making things right by bringing in an exciting, young and refreshing talent like Puig.
