West Ham United progressed into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with an excellent 5-1 win at the London Stadium over third-tier side Hull City – and Hammers supporters were impressed with Robert Snodgrass.
Snodgrass, 33, as afforded just his second appearance of 2020-21 as the Hammers played host to Hull – following their 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic in the previous round, in which Snodgrass provided an assist.
The former Leeds man has failed to make either of David Moyes’ matchday squads for the Premier League defeats to Newcastle United and Arsenal – but his efforts on Tuesday night will have surely sent a reminder to Moyes.
The Scotland international came back to haunt his old side as a delightful Andriy Yarmolenko chip to the back post saw the ex-Hull man lash home an effort on the volley. Seb Haller and Yarmolenko himself chipped in with two each.
Snodgrass, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract following his £10million (Reuters) from Hull back in January 2017, will now be hoping his efforts are rewarded with a place in the squad to face Wolves on Sunday.
Many Hammers fans discussed the versatile midfielder’s performance and the majority were delighted with the set-piece specialist’s efforts. Some suggested he should be involved when Moyes picks his best side.
Liking Snodgrass as a CM. Similar to Milner, hard-working winger who’s lost his pace and is moved inside. #WHUHUL
