West Ham striker Javier Hernandez has poor record against Tottenham

West Ham’s Javier Hernandez has a woeful record when it comes to scoring against Tottenham, who are his team’s next opponents after the international break.

The Mexican attacker has had a disrupted season due to fitness issues, but stepped up his recovery by scoring in a behind-closed-doors friendly against QPR last week.

He will be keen to force his way back into the plans of manager Manuel Pellegrini and prove he can play an important role at the London Stadium this season.

The predatory centre-forward is likely to be stuck behind talisman Marko Arnautovic in the pecking order, but needs to try show they could potentially both line up in the same XI.

Hernandez has been a decent goalscorer during most of his career and has nine in 38 games so far for the Hammers since he joined.

But upcoming opposition Spurs have proven to be a tricky obstacle for him, as he has just one goal and no assists in 10 appearances against them.

His only strike against them came in a West Ham shirt last season, but he ended up on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline.

West Ham supporters would surely love Hernandez back to his best for them, but may have to wait a couple of weeks for him to get fully up to speed again.
